Let’s shine bright our own light

There are just a few seminal moments through life. Moments that bring about radical change in the way you get to relate to your life from that time on.

To me, one of those moments occurred exactly 17 years ago: the birth of Maya, my daughter.

3:03 AM was the time on my watch when she came out of her mom’s belly, through a c-section procedure.

But the transformation of my outlook and relationship to life, began about nine months back, when I got the news that I was going to be a dad.

My world changed. My reality became one in which more room was made for a love like never before to come through.

Today, on a big birthday sign, I wrote to her:

You’re love (and loved).

You’re life.

You’re light.

Know this.

Own this.

Shine bright.

The love with which I wrote these words to her is uniquely special. Maya was my inspiration. But these words apply to you as well. They’re definitively relevant for me too.
